With the release of the third ‘reboot’ film, Star Trek Beyond, came the opportunity to do a cover for The Post Atomic Horror Podcast’s special episode covering the film. I went with a variant of what I usually do for their between-season ‘supplemental’ episodes, a fake & humorous magazine cover, this time looking to more sophisticated sources. So this cover is an homage to photographer Erwin Blumenfeld’s classic Vogue 1950 cover with only the eye, eyebrow and lips of the model, mixed in with an attempt at illustrator David Downton’s distinct style of portraiture. It hopefully is not too much of either, and lands in a place with a distinct character of its own.
