When longtime twitter cohort @tantanoo needed a header graphic & logo for his new photo-blog, he came to me, specifying that he did not want another one of those headers featuring a person (usually the photographer themselves) holding up an SLR camera. I suggested we go in the opposite direction stylistically: since the content of the page would be mainly photographic, the header should be entirely hand-drawn in black & white.
Taking inspiration from Shantanu’s many photos of Indian vehicle graphics & hand-signage, I created the abovew logo, incorporating elements directly from his photos as well as his twitter avatar. The elements were then resized & replicated to create the header graphic seen below.
