Complexes

An eight-second exposure of Dubai Festival City's Canal Walk area
By now most of these columns have circular signs on the little notches, but I like them this way too
Small pink flowers at my uncle and aunt's place. Don't know what they're called, but they're quite common

I like all three of these, but there's something very unusual and likeable about the first one especially.

Well, as far as sprawling commercial and leisure spaces go, Festival City is a bit unusual. It's not quite the kind of grand civic complex I'd love every city to have five of (still a mall, not an art gallery in sight, and an absolute travesty of a bookstore), but whoever designed it had some fun here and there.

This picture is an eight-second exposure; kept the camera on a railing, hence the smooth nature of the lighting (and the barely noticeable red blur to the right of the foremost umbrella -- probably a child).

The 'light name' on the home page is done similarly. Unfortunately eight seconds is as high as my compact goes, so I can't write anything more complex :-)
