Crystal balls and other things

The tonal line is down to the brush pen. Very useful if a little hard to get used to (haven't used one for a while).

Hmm, crystal ball? It was just a quick way to vignette the piece and stop me from drawing a lot of background, but sure, hey, I planned it all along, you have recognised my genius, good woman; such subtle metaphors are a hallmark of my work!

U know somehow I can so relate to that comic and I dont know whether thats a good thing or bad thing!!

anyhow I do like how the comic looks, love your tonal line.... and the interesting part is that the window looks like a crystal ball! so is it supposed to be thats what ur future holds to wear all kind of jewels and dazzle away!!

So yes I am too participating n my first comic panel (sticking to panels, no time for strips) is up, so any comments....

Drive Ins

There used to be one ancient drive in theatre in Dubai (it was even in the flight path!) but they closed it down a couple of years ago to make way for another mall. Bleh.

Glad to see true civilization is still alive somewhere. I agree about the setting being almost more fun than the movie itself. Maybe in the petrol-free future we can buy up all the old SUVs for cheap and just park them in Drive In theatres, do up the interiors in weird ways and turn the place into an even more fun evening.

You should come visit us so we can take you to the drive-in movie theater. It's so much fun that it often doesn't matter if the movie is crap!

OTT

It was OTT but of a kind I could handle. The entire movie was so surreal that once that was established I was willing to accept anything they threw at me.

Part of the reason I liked it was that it was ridiculous but it took itself seriously, i.e. it wasn't winking at the audience in the ways that have become a staple of this genre, but instead chose to forge its own path of plot-twist-gymnastics. It knew it isn't a high budget Hollywood movie so it didn't try to be one. Also they didn't spend half the running time on slow motion shots of the actors walking towards the screen like in Dhoom 2. Always a plus point in my book.

As for the bimbos, well, these particular ladies don't do anything for me, so that isn't a USP in my case *shrug*. At least they weren't covered in three tons of fake bronzer.

I found it a bit too over the top for me..yes it's fast paced and actually it's just that fast paced, there's no other USP except the bimbos :P

Ravi! It's great to hear from you after so long. A cousin of mine also had a pirated copy and it wasn't a very great one, so I dissuaded her from watching it. I suppose I'm one of those evil cinema purists that ensure that even the pirated stuff that is watched must be in pristine quality!

Vishal!
While at Chennai's burma bazaar, I picked up a pirated copy of the film for myself. Its been a week since then but have yet to sit me down enough to watch it!
And you thought you were busy? :)
Cheers, dude!
Well, I can certainly

Well, I can certainly understand that the film will be slow and boring for some people, especially if your tastes skew more towards mainstream Bollywood fare. Even the art crowd may not receive the film well due to its strange structure and pacing. It does have its rough eges, but in the end (for me at least) its pros far outweighed its cons.
