Book Collections

So, what happened to all those books? Sold? Given Away? Stored in a bunker for after that spiffy apocalypse thing?

I think anyone with a love of the medium of books will end up with an eclectic collection. I have yet to come across a bibliomaniac with only paperback techno-thrillers, for instance, and even totally casual readers will have some kind of strange tome either inherited, received as a gift or even purchased on a strange whim.

One day I'd like to expand this little project to other people, sort of like this Time photo essay.

I know this week's book post is a little late. Sorry about that. It should be up by Monday.

Flashbacks

That pile of books looks like something I might have dug out of the attic at home ten or twenty years ago (DIY back-to-the-land construction book and all). But I suppose large stacks of yellowing paperbacks are likely to have certain universal qualities.

Aishwarya, I dunno what's up with my comments, save that HaloScan seems more reliable than my previous, now long-vanished, commenting system. (I was going through third-party commenting services before Blogger had a comment option and never adopted the house system.) If you're having trouble, feel free to send me an email and I can either look into the problem or post your comment myself.

Delhi Books

Yes, but you can alway use the excuse that you have no books where you currently are to get more books. Look, this post only had seven -- surely have five to seven books you can photograph and talk about.

No, I would never dare to delve into the big bad world of Delhi books without an intrepid guide.

...Er, also on an unrelated note I just remembered someone (my mother?) telling me about cheap pre-internet porn booklets which were called 'Delhi Books'. True? False? And in Delhi, are they just called 'books'?

Re: Dan's Blog
I have had no problems commenting. Sometimes Haloscan does act up and doesn't even bring up the comment link at the end of posts (and its comment count on the blog page is always unreliable), but that usually sorts itself in a few hours.

I want to take pictures of my books (and shelves) now, but they're mostly in another city. :(

You will not, I hope, DARE to bookshop in Delhi without me.

Also, am I the only person having trouble commenting on Dan's blog?

Thanks. It was a lot of fun to put together. I have heard of the one in Delhi and I think I'll have to keep a day aside (not to mention an extra suitcase) just for that whenever I eventually end up there.

The Continuing Adventures of Dracunerd

I think I had considered an ongoing Dracunerd comic ever since that first sketch last year, and Comic Konga! seemed to be the perfect time to try it (and other) ideas out. Well, the others didn't work out (I'm just not skilled enough at drawing for some of them yet), but I'm glad I did at least one Dracunerd. There will be more in the future.

And now that I know he resembles your boyfriend, the character's jaw and cheekbones are never going to change!

Disturbingly enough, the person I am reminded of is my boyfriend. Who is, I hasten to add, neither green nor fanged, and is in fact very attractive. It's just the cheekbones and the jaw.

(Also, I am not that hairy.)

You must draw more dracunerd.

iSlackwritertron sounds cool, since it has the word tron in it.

I have no idea what story you are talking about. XD This must be for fantasybits, that would explain it.

Hey, now I remembered. Yeah, it was for Fantasybits. And I think it was wolf-like. Would check, but must go to work now.

Having had a miniscule but torturous bit of php wrangling to do on this site's redesign (such as getting the 'journal' graphic to show up only on journal pages, which must be child's play to people who actually know php), I fully sympathise with your plight and do not in the least mind.

All of us are busy working this week, it seems (okay, my work has piled up mostly because of my own fault), and that does take priority.

Since we have no huge rules you're welcome to try your hand at it when you have some free time. Samir's doing his Tuesday to Saturday (he's building a multiligual community website, and I don't envy him in the least). I've been drawing a Dugong, among other things. We've been working throughout today and are a bit brain-fatigued, so we haven't done a Thursday comic. I may post them both tomorrow or go on until Saturday.

I you like you can even prepare some kickass stuff and wait until the next Comic Konga (I think mid-January, after all the 'holiday madness' has subsided will be a good time) to post them.

I haven't started writing on my non-nano nano (I think I should come up with a name and a crappy logo for it. ¡SLACKWRITERTRON! or something). Do you remember that story you once wrote about the kid who turns into a huge bear-like beast (I'm probably remembering this wrong). Something like that would be niiice :)

Dracunerd you sonvagun

Adorable -- yes! I hoped the drawing would come off as somewhat endearing (I didn't want him to look hideous like he did in the old sketch). But adorable... wow, now you're entering Gollum territory and scaring me.

By this I mean that I was slightly disturbed that women (in this case, the group sitting in front of me in the cinema) found Gollum in the LOTR movies adorable. "He's so CUUUUUUUTE!" one of them shrieked with sincerity.

Shivers.

...But familiar, you say? Who? Who it is? Tell me I say. Honestly, I don't quite know who he resembles -- I didn't intentionally base him on anybody.

Oh no, I FORGOT ABOUT THE COMIC KONGA! ;^;

I was too busy about thinking how to do that php for my friend's project, and going to work, and making a Halloween drawing, and what will I write for Nano (haven't decided, haven't started)! Man!
